Daniel Kirk's version of the traditional story is filled with a cute story line that deals with children who are clever enough to out smart a mean crocodile they found in their well. ( ) A classic nursery rhyme Jack and Jill has a new slant to the tale. This is age appropriate for kindergarten to first grade. The animation is done in "delightful" fashion with the characters having oversized eyes. The font is medium sized but bold. The illustrations are very colorful and detailed. This is a standard story of Jack and Jill. Finally, the motive was given while Jack and Jill went to fetch a pale of water. Spike there fish had drank the contents of his tank and needed more water. Their sink being broken the pair are forced to go to a well-guarded by a crocodile. The croc insists on food for exchange of any wish the children may have. At last through hard work and bartering they get their water and their dad back who had been missing since the beginning of the story. The teacher can make a word wall with new site words for the children to learn. Point out again to the children the changes in language as pointed out by the author.
