"[Thich Nhat Hanh] shows us the connection between personal, inner peace and peace on earth." --His Holiness The Dalai Lama Nominated by Martin Luther King, Jr. for a Nobel Peace Prize, Thich Nhat Hanh is one of today's leading sources of wisdom, peace, compassion and comfort. Exiled from Vietnam over thirty years ago, Thich Nhat Hanh has become known as a healer of the heart, a monk who shows us how the everyday world can both enrich and endanger our spiritual lives. In this book, Jesus and Buddha share a conversation about prayer and ritual and renewal, and about where such concepts as resurrection and the practice of mindfulness converge. In this unique way, Thich Nhat Hanh shows the brotherhood between Jesus and Buddha-- and in the process shows how we can take their wisdom into the world with us, to "practice in such a way that Buddha is born every moment of our daily life, that Jesus Christ is born every moment of our daily life."… (mere)

Finally! Made it through this book. My first deep look at Buddhism. Maybe that's why it was difficult. It's proof that theology in any religion can be a challenge when explained only in terms of the theologian. ( )

Exiled from Vietnam over thirty years ago, Thich Nhat Hanh has become known as a healer of the heart, a monk who shows us how the everyday world can both enrich and endanger our spiritual lives. In Going Home he shows us the relationship between Buddha and Jesus by presenting a conversation between the two. In this unique way we learn how such concepts as resurrection and mindfulness converge. The brotherhood between Jesus and Buddha can teach us to "practice in such a way that Buddha is born every moment of our daily life, that Jesus Christ is born every moment of our daily life."

Ed. Le Relié, 2001 - 140 p.

Acknowledges the difference between Christianity and Buddhism but examines how they are alike and how Buddhist practices may enrich Christian ones, just as understanding of Jesus' life and cornerstones of Christianity can bring added understanding to practice of Buddhism, perhaps especially in the West.

Beautifully paced Christmas Eves spent at Plum Village in the Dordogne, France...gentle comparisons and contrasts of Buddhist and Christian precepts, with little judgement, lots of common ground and acceptance. ( )
