The preface to the 3rd edition indicates that Holman completely rewrote the text at this point, rather than simply revising and expanding the original Thrall and Hibbard text as he had in the 2nd ed. Based on this information, the 1st and 2nd eds. have been separated from this work and treated as a second work. If textual analysis of the 1st and 2nd editions with the later editions show this to be unwarrented, they can be recombined. Otherwise please keep them separate.
