This book is very simple but eye catching with its pop art style illustrations. The book is simple due to its very minimal use of dialogue or sentences. Every page is a different photo of something in the city with the coordinating onomatopoeia word. I feel as though reading this book to a young child would be great for teaching kids that even sounds can be represented by words. ( )

I like this book because i think it is a good book for young readers to start off with. The words are simple enough for them to read. The sounds made in the book are useful for young children to learn and connect all the different sounds that go on. I believe someone in the prek to k stage would enjoy this book. ( )

Listen to the City is a cute book about all the noises you hear in the city from morning till night. Although it is just a book of a bunch of onomatopoeias, the pictures help explain what is going on. From breakfast cooking to horns honking in the street, we learn about the noisy city. This is a great book for young students because they are able to relate and understand the noises being made. A teacher can also introduce a lesson on onomatopoeias using this book. ( )
