This is a great collection of children's ideas of what would constitute a "perfect world" from their perspectives. The breadth of answers makes this book feel very real. Answers vary from silly ("We could ride roller coasters to get places instead of trains and cars"), to realistic ("My sister wouldn't read my diary.", "There wouldn't need to be an endangered species list.") to even heartbreaking in their truthfulness ("My dad would be here. He died of a heart attack and now there is no one here to call me Stinker.").

There are a myriad of excellent examples in this book to showcase for a writing prompt. I think kids will find this book relatable and also be inspired to write down their own ideas of what a perfect world would be.

You really walk away from this book with a sense of what kids are paying attention to, what their worlds are like, what they are capable of understanding, and what really matters to them. ( )

The author asked children around the country what their idea of a perfect world is. He got thousands of responses. This is a collection of his favorites. As you can imagine many of the answers are really funny, while some are very deep. Robert Bender does a good job adding humorous illustrations to the quotes. This would a be a great book for a classroom activity having everyone write about what make their perfect world. ( )

When as what would be their own idea of having a perfect world, there are several students that have inputed their responses. From dealing with family members to breaking stereotypes of girls not being able to be women, this book has given a perspective that is uncommon to find in normal books.

Children tell what would make the world perfect, like no lima beans. I would read this book in class and have my students create there own list of what would make the world perfect. ( )

I think this is my favorite book that I have read so far for this class. Robert Bender asked students what their idea of a perfect world was and put together a compilation of some of the answers that he received. Being able to read the things that kids come up with made me laugh, amazed me, and brought tears to my eyes. I really enjoyed seeing the different things that kids find important. It's often the smallest thing, but can be extremely powerful. ( )
