The return of Freddy LeGrand is about a revolutionary pilot who crashes his plane on a farm and teaches the farmer and his wife about flight. When Freddy finally makes it to Paris, his original destination, he is celebrated and reveals a new plane which he then proceeds to crash on top of a snowy mountain, when he is rescued by the farmers who repaired his old plane.

This was a cute book with very simple oil pastel illustrations. The story was a little odd because Freddy seemed a bit inept at flying; he crashed two planes and some how both times came back a hero. But the dialogue and story were written very smoothly.

Students could discuss what accomplishments they would like to make in the future or write about some they have made. This could be incorporated into a social studies lesson where students plan an imaginary plane trip to different countries they are studying.

Freddy Legrand's airplane crashes and he's rescued by some nearby farmers. In his time on the farm he learns a few things, but decides farm life is not for him. He returns to Paris builds a new plane, and sets off around the world. Another crash, stranded again. Whatever will he do? Black line and watercolor illustrations with a 1940's feel. The plot was not particularly compelling.

Freddy Legrand loved to fly. But, when his plane crashed he was forced to learn to live out of his norm on a farm. He got back in the air and he crashed agai, but this time his friend from the farm come to the rescue. Great moral, you have to learn how accept your situation and work with what you have. ( )
