Tacky is a different penguin that ends up saving everyone because of his differences. Tacky the Penguin stands out from his friends. They don't quite understand why he is so loud and dresses so different. One day, a pack of hunters come for the penguins. Tacky scares them off with his unique personality, and saves the day. His friends realize how important he is and value his uniqueness. This is a story about a penguin named Tacky who is not at all afraid to be himself. His companions go about their daily routines in a neat and orderly fashion, but Tacky likes to do things in his own way, like marching silly, making splashy cannon balls, and singing to his own tune. One day, some hunters show up ready to hunt some penguins, but Tacky knows just how to get rid of them. This is a great story about being yourself, even if no one else is with you. The illustrations are bright, and simple, yet just enough detail. My students are still quoting this book weeks after we read it! Tacky the Penguin is about an odd bird who is much different than his fellow penguin friends. The penguins become worried when hunters arrive. Tacky's normal behavior gets the hunters to leave. The other penguins learn to love Tacky's odd behavior as in the end he is their hero. Students love the humor Helen Lester used in this story and the behavior of Tacky. This story leaves students with an important lesson on accepting differences. In this book, Tacky the penguin is described as an "odd bird" by his penguin family and friends in the way that he acts and silly things that he does. When hunters come and try to go after the penguins, Tacky steps in acting as his "normal, tacky (odd) self", and surprises the hunters who end up deciding they want nothing to do with the penguins. In the end, Tacky saves the day and even though he is an "odd bird", his penguin family and friends agree that he is a good bird to have around. This is a great book to describe individuality and uniqueness. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

Tacky the penguin does not fit in with his sleek and graceful companions, but his odd behavior comes in handy when hunters come with maps and traps. No library descriptions found. |
