When Ivy receives an invitation to a sleepover, Randolph resents her excitement and constant chatter about the party. He hopes for the best (that she changes her mind) and the worst (that she has a lousy time). Randolph's conflicting emotions are captured truthfully; kids will recognize the feelings of anger and hurt. Ivy and Randolph's friendship is put to the test when Ivy is invited to an all-girl sleepover and Randolph feels left out. Ivy's excitement about the upcoming party is too much for Randolph. Suddenly he feels sad and jealous and he decides to make Ivy feel just as horrible as he does. Amusing illustrations and a charming storyline will help young children understand that not-so-nice feelings are a part of life and good friendships will endure. Great for sharing one-on-one or with a small group, the format (which includes thought clouds and conversations) may be somewhat awkward in a large group setting. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

This book is about a beaver named Randolph and his very best friend Ivy the goose. Ivy gets invited to a birthday party and Randolph doesn't. This makes him very upset. He gets rotten and thinks of all the ways he can make sure Ivy doesn’t have a good time. He helped her pack and told her to pack very unnecessary things just to weigh her down so she wouldn’t have a good time. When she got there they got locked out of the house. They were able to use all the things Randolph had made Ivy pack to have the best time ever on the beach. When Ivy got home, she forgave him and thanked him for everything because he was the reason they had such a good time.
I loved the way how the author used a graphic novel format when writing this children's book. It is easier to follow along and keeps the reader more engaged. The reader is able to comprehend the story through though bubbles, pictures, and very few text boxes.
