I love tying other subjects into reading to get the other subjects meaning, as well as math more meaning. ( ) This story is about Zero who lives in Digitaria and felt he had no place or fits in with the other numbers. Addemup is the number's favorite game, but Zero cannot play cause he adds no value to any of the numbers. Zero sets out on a mission to find his purpose. With continuous math connections, Zero is reminded of how valuable he really is by meeting other people along his journey. As a teacher, this book is a great introduction to place value and the concept of zero. Most kids think zero is a useless number and has no value. From this book it can be explained the purpose and importance for the number zero. Zero lives in Digitaria. Everyone in Digitaria had a job except for zero. Although Zero was all alone, he was determined to figure out what his purpose was. On his journey, Zero discovered that any number plus zero equals that number, and any number multiplied by zero equaled zero. Zero also learned that he could create new numbers like ten and forty. I give this book 5-stars because it teaches kids why zero is such an important number. It also introduces them to the concept of place value as well as additive and multiplicative identifies. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
