Discover how the amazing and impressive human body works with this innovative fact-filled book that includes a layered 3-D model built right into the pages! Informative text and illustrations accompany the unique 3-D model that can be deconstructed and rebuilt layer by layer, system by system, just by turning the page. This makes it easy for children to understand how all the major systems of the body work together to enable us to breathe, move, and interact with the world around us. Learning has never been so much fun!   Kids who love to explore hidden worlds will also enjoy Uncover a Shark (9781684125500), Uncover a T.rex (9781684125517), and Uncover an Egyptian Mummy (9781684122950).… (mere)

Just what I was looking for, with layered transparencies for the muscular system, skeletal system, digestive system, circulatory system, urinary system, respiratory system, nervous system, and joints. ( )

Explore the complex wonder that is the human body!

Through pictures, beautiful illustrations and, in the case of the hardcopy, through a diecast model embedded in the pages, Inside Out: Human Body explores on of the most complex biological machines there is. Layer by layer, the body systems of humans are explored. Paired with each segment are tons of interesting tidbits of info about various body systems and organs.

There some humour to this book. There's a useful section about urine colour and what it means. Beside 'pink’, it said 'you ate beets or rhubarb.’ I nearly spit my tea. Too funny. There are little tasks to perform, if you want. Finding your pulse, checking out the most visible arteries and veins (they are under the tongue), and steaming a mirror. The book recalled my forensic anthropology studies, and left me feeling rather nostalgic.

My cubs and I really enjoyed reading this book. The language is meant for older readers, but the younger ones enjoyed the pictures, and all of them had lots of questions, prompting learning discussions. Overall, a fascinating look at the human body, and the perfect book for any science-loving kid!

***Many thanks to Netgalley and Quarto Publishing for providing an egalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. ( )

This book is very interesting. It gives plenty of information about the human body. It talks about all of the body systems that work together to make us who we are. The book presents the information in a very easy to understand way, with plenty of pictures. It also has a model body in the middle of the book which pulls apart with each page showing each system separately. The book is also very handy for teachers or students who have blood phobias. The book teaches you all about the human body but without gross pictures. It is a very handy book. ( )

REVIEW: The Human Body takes kids on an incredible journey through the powerful muscular system, the "bone zone," the long and windy road of the digestive system, the blood-pumping circulatory system, the 47-mile long nervous system and beyond! A unique layered model of the human body serves as the center point of each section, revealing key body parts and functions, while entertaining, informative text explains how the body works. Each section is fully illustrated with colorful diagrams and includes fun, interactive lessons for kids to try themselves.
