This book is about a little girl named Sophie who throws a tantrum in the park because her mom will not give her a cookie. She then later learns that throwing a tantrum won't get her what she wants. This book is perfect for teaching kids that throwing a tantrum doesn't get you anywhere. Ages 3-5. Source: Personal Library.

Sophia wanted a cookie so bad! She threw such a big tantrum to her mom to get that cookie because that was all that she wanted. She threw such a big temper tantrum, that when she got home she fell asleep. Most kids throw temper tantrum's for something that they want, whether inside of school or outside of school. I think kids will really relate to this book. ( )

This wonderfully illustrated book perfectly captures what every child (and parent) goes through when faced with a tantrum-inducing incident. Sophie sees a chocolate covered cookie and immediately turns to the waterworks when her mother says that Sophie cannot have one. The story itself is straightforward with low-difficulty words. The illustrations, however, are what sell this story. The images of Sophie turning into a chili pepper, breaking the earth with her fists, and making the world spin with her cries capture the true feeling of this tale. Students can hopefully learn about what not to do when things don't go your way, and conversations about problem solving could be sparked after reading a book like this. ( )

I love this book! Appealing picures and realistic, believable story that any two or three to six year old can relate to. Kind of reassuring for parents and caregivers, too. ( )
