The most illustrious men and women of the past would have much to teach us if only, by some miracle of time travel, we could borrow an hour or so of their time - and get them to tell us just what it was that really mattered to them. Each book in this series enables us to do just that.

Coffee with Plato is part of the Coffee with…series. In this book, the reader is given a very basic and simple understanding of Plato’s philosophies, and life. The books are set up like casual interviews between the narrator and whichever famous person is being interviewed.

I like the Coffee with…series for middle school students, because the books are set up like interviews, they have very simple dialogues, and give basic and good introductions to famous people’s biographies. My students like the books, because they are very small, and fit easily into their backpacks. Since the book is so small, it is not intimidating to low readers. The text is easy to read, but the ideas are often advanced, letting low readers get a better understanding of the person they are researching. The kids also like them, because they don’t look like an elementary school book. The covers are very simple. ( )

A good introduction to Plato, but not of much interest to me as I don't have much interest in philosophy. ( )
