Two more excellant investigations by Chief Inspector morse and his faithful sidekick Sergeant Lewis.

Nicholas Quinn.
Is deaf but still gets appointed to the Secretiat of the examining board. Some months later he is found poisened in his flat. Who killed him? why? when? and where were all the other people in his office at the time in question. Morse as usual heads off down several blind allys befroe finally managing to pull all the threads together through a fairly contrived but clever plot device that you won't see coming. It is classic morse, confusing educated slow and ponderous with plenty of breaks for the odd pint, and pretty women. In these day and times both the discrimination and the drink driving would be very heavily frowned upon.

Jericho
A more slightly offbeat Morse investigation, Morse is trying to become involved with a pretty girl he met whilst drunk at a party (no explanation provided for why he was at the party) when he discovers that he's tresspassed on a crime scene. He continues to investigate on his own aroun the dges of the official case untila asecond body is found when Morse gets officially put on the case. Many more blind allys are investigated before the final resolution, slightly obvious perhaps but not very. Again slow prose as Morse winds his way through the alibi's and lies but enjoyably so. Apparently based on an accurate area of Oxford. ( )
