I really enjoyed this story for a number of reasons. I thought the overall plot was really fun and children of all ages would enjoy it. The overall message of the story is the value of doing the right thing because Stanley gets in trouble after he is caught by his owners. I like the language of this story too, because it added some humor to the plot. The illustrations were really well done, bright, and colorful, and added more depth to the story. Overall this story is a good one to teach kids how to make predictions in class, considering there are a few ways the story could have gone. This story would be a really good one to read in class and I really enjoyed it. ( )

It is a modern fantasy book because, in this story, dogs can all talk to each other and have the intelligence like the human. That can not happen in the real world situation. It is an interesting book that tells a dog named Stanley to hold a dog party in his home. Dog s tells other dogs. Then, Stanley ' party become a well-known thing in the world. in the end, the author makes readers to make the personal connection of this story."If you don't believe, ask your dog." the book can be used in reading class. This book is a good example of fantasy because a dog could not actually throw a party and dance like in this book yet he does and it is still believable. ( )

Summary:
Stanley is a dog with owners that don't allow him to be on the couch so when they go out every night Stanley tests his limits. He gets on the couch every night and listens to music and eats out of the fridge. He then realizes that he does not want to have all this fun alone so he invites a bunch of other dogs over and has a big party. His owners show up and busts Stanley and makes the other dogs leave. After that they took Stanley everywhere.

Personal Reaction:
I think that this story is so cute and it has a very adorable lesson of showing children that you should never do something that you're not supposed to just because your not being watched

Classroom Extensions:
I would have the student write a story about something that they did and then them getting caught and how that taught them a good lesson to not ever do it again. ( )

This book is perfect for grades K-2 and maybe even 3rd grade. Students will love to see how Stanley's character develops from being a one-time-two-rule breaker to full on party animal. The author uses complex sentence structure and some repetition, which helps to keep the attention of readers. The story moves along at a nice pace and quickly builds up with anticipation at the end. Although this book is about a talking dog, students can still relate to Stanley's qualities in the story as he acts like he's a person, in fixing the cushions, putting the plate in the sink, dancing, and talking to his friends at the park.
