Published in the 1950s, this isn’t a conventional biography as such, but an attempt to give you access to the mind and thinking of its subject, Leslie Stephen. The first few chapters give a brief autobiographical outline (barely mentioning the fact that Stephen was the father of two very talented daughters, Virginia Woolf and Vanessa Bell). Then goes on to give you in- depth disquisitions on the matters that formed and shaped Stephen throughout his life. Religion, rationalism, agnosticism, morality, and literary criticism. Not a volume for a single read, but rich in information about the thought and ideas of an era. ( ) ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
