( ) So good of her -- for her own & for the readers' sakes -- to out that sick-o Roth. Art (under which undeniably his work can SOMETIMES be categorized) can at times require a sub-human artist. This I've always suspected about Roth. Gave up on him in the 80's as a hopeless misogynist, but recently read American Pastoral which was brilliant & decided to give him another chance -- but not before reading Claire Bloom's accounting. This, undoubtedly will colour any further reading & may indeed put a stop to all Roth on my reading list. I gave this memoir 4 stars just because of the guts it must have taken to reveal the nightmare that was/is Roth. Otherwise, it would have gotten TWO stars, as it revealed very little of the rest of her life & was very emotionally detached & perfunctory. Bravo Ms Bloom -- onward & upward & best of luck to you and your daughter. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
