This book is a very good book for kindergarten or first graders. It explains the science behind snow and tells a story to go along with it. This would be a good book to read during the winter, to get your kids in the wintery mood. The part that i enjoyed most about this book is that it tells a story along with telling facts about snow and what snow does. ( )

I like reading children's nonfiction books because young children are so eager to learn. This book is a good example to use when teaching about snow. It includes such information as what a snowflake looks like, why snow is useful, and what children can do to enjoy a snowfall. It's especially fun if there is actually snow falling or on the ground when you read this book. The day I read it to my three-year-old grandson, we crafted our own paper snowflakes.

This book is good for a preschooler as it is relatively short, but packed with things to know. The artwork is very sweet. I especially love all the animals, pictured cozy and warm in the earth beneath the snow. I even learned something from this book--that the temperature in the snow is warmer than the temperature of snow sitting on a tree! ( )

This book would fit into a science lesson about weather and seasons. It teaches readers all about snow and how it is good for plants, animals, and people. It informs readers of the dangers of snow as well.
The author provides activities for those who are eager to experiment. This would allow students to test theories, such as the one about snow keeping the animals warm. At first, students might not believe it because snow is cold itself. However, when they test the theory using two thermometers, they would be surprised by the results.
In the back of the book, the author also provided readers with experiments to try, websites to visit, and other books about snow. I would highly recommend using this book for science class. ( )
