WHOOSH WENT THE WIND is a story about exaggeration. The book is a slice of life book because it is about a little boy on his way to school. However, on his way to school the little boy gets caught in a huge wind storm, so then when he gets to school and is telling his teacher why he is late she does not believe him because he says that the wind blew away all the signs so he had to direct traffic as well as the wind blew open the doors to the hat shop so he had to stop and help collect all the hats. After he gets done explaining his adventure to school the teacher does not believe him and he asked her to look for herself. This leads us the picture on the last page. All it shows us is the teacher blowing away in the wind. This book allows us to leave the ending to the story up to the imagination of the reader. I believe the illustration in this book are simple water color paintings that very well depicts the exaggerations the little boy tells allowing the reader to envision the little boys adventure. I believe I could use this book in the classroom for a multimodal teaching (Leland, Lewison & Harste, 2013, p.128) because of the fact of how the story is left up to the reader. I would have my class draw out their own possible ending of what happened to the teacher after she opened up the window and got blown away with the wind. ( )
