When Lissy went to her new school, she had no friend. She was playing alone. She started to make animals with papers and call them friends. one day, the wind blew her friends , and one girl brought them back to her. From that day, they became friends. I think this book is about how easy it is to make friends in reality, and how people shouldn't be afraid to make them. This book is good for young kids, especially middle grades kids. some of them have no friends at school and are afraid to make friends. This book can teach them how easy it is to make friends. ( )

Lissy's Friends is about a girl named Lissy, and the lack of friends she has. Fortunately, Lissy can fold paper, and is very good at origami. So what Lissy does next, is make herself a friend. Surprisingly, her origami bird, comes to life. After her friend becomes life-like, Lissy makes more friends until she has so many, she cant count them. Eventually her friends disappear, and the only thing she can do is make more. I think this book is about how easy it is to make friends in reality, and howe people shouldn't be afraid to make them.

Lissy is new at school and is having trouble making friends. She makes paper cranes instead, and through this skill, she makes real friends.

I thought the message was nice but I feel very similar to how I felt about The Twins Blanket. It isn't the best multicultural book. The girl is presumably of asian descent but the only sort of culture reference was that she was making origami. ( )
