This book is a classic for a very good reason. The story is powerful and moving and the illustrations are gorgeous. I always think of this book when I go up to Bar Harbor every summer for vacation. As a child it made me want to sow lupines everywhere. ( )

A cute and funny book I enjoyed reading it though it was a quick read. ( )

Alice Rumphius longed to travel the world, live in a house by the sea, and do something to make the world more beautiful. The countless lupines that bloom along the coast of Maine are the legacy of the real Miss Rumphius, the Lupine Lady, who scattered lupine seeds everywhere she went. Anothe book fitting for Earth Day, Miss Rumphious is a classic children's book. In the classroom this book could also be used to discuss making an impact as well as the literary elements of sequencing and even creating a story map. ( )

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, it is everywhere we are willing to see it. Being a kind person is something many people strive for, but how to make the world a better place is something that takes thinking and is what Miss. Rumphius promised her uncle. As she journey's through life's adventures she finds out she did just that by doing what she loves. ( )

Alice made a promise to make the world a more beautiful place, then a seed of an idea is planted and blossoms into a beautiful plan. Barbara Cooney's story of Alice Rumphius, who longed to travel the world, live in a house by the sea, and do something to make the world more beautiful, has a timeless quality that resonates with each new generation. The countless lupines that bloom along the coast of Maine are the legacy of the real Miss Rumphius, the Lupine Lady, who scattered lupine seeds everywhere she went.
