The lives of the Titcombs are ruled by foolish Mrs. Titcomb's dreams. For instance, she has dreamt that Captain Patterson, the father of their young boarder Andrew has drowned and that they are to leave the only place Captain Patterson would know to look for his son. This is the terrific sequel to "Away Goes Sally." What a wonderful country this was in the 1790s: the federal government was tiny and far away. Civil society was strong. The culture was strong in virtue, prudence, and competence.

Public librarians are throwing away this book and others like it. I see them doing so to make room for more vampire stories, shelves and shelves of them. ( )
