John chapman was an interesting retelling of the classical tale of johnny appleseed. Though many facts do not exist for the real man. I really like the way the writter kept the language simple for children.
I found the book inspiring and very interesting. It was also kept at a simple reading level.
This story could be used along with a tree planting project where the children all get to plant seeds and grow a tree. ( )

In John Chapman: The Man Who Was Johnny Appleseed, the author tells the story of the man who planted thousands of apple trees to trade for goods along with legends that followed him. Carol Greene makes sure to separate the legends, such as saying his trees went all the way to the Pacific Ocean and that he could thaw ice with his bare feet from actual truths, like how he traveled miles and miles taking care of his trees, wearing ragged clothes. This book shows Johnny Appleseed’s life from birth until his passing near Fort Wayne, Indiana explaining how he became a story that is still shared today and how all should live generously just as he did.
