It is a story that tries to be believable. The obvious happens in the end of the book. It takes place in Utah at a mythical location. The book offers another idea as to what happened to the Anasazi people. Only 3 1/2 stars were awarded to this book because it was so predictable. And I did read it through in one afternoon - but I confess to skimming over some of the passages, particularly those providing descriptions of southwestern geology and Native American lore.
Overall, it was very much like a Pendergast story without Pendergast. Fortunately for me, I like Pendergast stories with or without him. ( )
