If ever there was a book screaming out for an editor, this is it. The author reminds me of a kindergarten age child who hasn't learned to self-filter. No, we do not have to hear EVERY thought that goes through your head. This memoir is almost 300 large sized pages and most of it is just her yakking--helpful advice or inspiration on turning your art into a business are far and few between. In the overly long introduction she admits that she doesn't follow writing conventions and she suggests the reader lighten up and have fun. What she does not understand is that those conventions are to writing what manners are to social behavior. Ignoring them is offensive to her audience. Gloria Page is that very boring person at a party who corners you and won't stop talking about herself. I have to admit that even though I paid waaaaay too much money for this book, I could not invest the time in finishing it. I really tried, but the author just did not exhibit any respect for her readers. Skipping ahead, I could clearly see that she kept up throughout. Into the recycling bin with this one! ( )
