( ) In theory, I should really love this series, but for the 2nd book in a row, the story just kind of dragged on for me. I loved the first half of the book and then couldn't wait for it to be over. This was the same experience as the first book. I might give it one more go but this might also be the end for me. Could have been A four star, but the author hit my boss key near the end of the main story. That would be by blithely tramping into impossible land for ACTION... Even with magic you can't fire a pistol after yanking the slide back (ejects the ammo you know? And No, that wasn't the only s0y0d m0m3nt)!! I still can't decide whether I really like Stross's writing or not. This is good, and brimming with ideas. It's also exciting and it really fits the bill for an exciting spy novel/thriller conclusion. But Stross's prose is still very thick, for me. It's difficult to read, simply. Even just parsing it feels unnatural. I felt satisfied at reading it in the end, and getting all the technical references, but it took me some time! ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

Charles Stross continues to make a name for himself in the sci-fi genre. The Jennifer Morgue is an extension of Stross' award-winning novella The Concrete Jungle. Bob Howard is a special operative for the British agency called The Laundry, and his task is to stop a rogue billionaire from using an artifact, known as Gravedust, with the power to reanimate the dead. The U.S. Black Agency sends the lethal Ramona Random to aid Bob's mission, but she seems to have a different agenda. No library descriptions found. |
