It gets extra points for not concentrating on dinosaurs and other sexy fossils, but also covers the more osbcure and primitive creatures from the really remote past. I found the stromatolites, the bizarre Ediacarian fossils and the fishes from Canowindra particularly fascinating. A must-read for fossil buffs and anyone interested in kadimakara, which is an Aboriginal word for creatures from the Dreamtime, now used to designate Australia's extinct fauna.
