L'impressione è la stessa della la prima lettura, Bachman continua a non fare per me. Storie senza mordente e piuttosto scontate, anche se lo stile non è male lo ammetto. Dopo due letture direi che con Blaze sono a posto, novella senza infamia ne lode. ( )

How do you read a story about a man that kidnaps a baby and feel sorry for HIM? Rare, I know but that is what happens in Blaze. This book was one of Bachman's first books that was never published. A very interesting story ( )

Book 60 of Stephen King. Enjoyed reading the novel, once I started I couldn't put it down. All the classic features of Kings novels are there to enjoy. One feels for the main protagonist even though he is a bad guy trapped in circumstances beyond his control. ( )

Belle descrizioni dei personaggi. L'autore ti fa immedesimare nel protagonista e nel suo disagio. Pur essendo il cattivo, difficile non stare dalla sua parte. La trama finisce tuttavia con l'essere banalotta. Più interessanti i flash-back che la storia in se. Finale un po' scontato. Insomma, un libro che si può perdere. ( )

In the introduction to this novel, King dismisses it as a trunk novel. Originally written in 1973 under his pen name, Richard Bachman, it sat forgotten for nearly thirty years. Thankfully it's been unearthed. This is an excellent, no-nonsense crime novel.

King mentions in the intro that when he wrote a second draft of Blaze thirty years later, he paired down the prose as much as he could, making it as lean as possible. In this regard it reads like a Donald Westlakee novel (or, more accurately, like Westlake's alter ego, Richard Stark).

The book clocks in at a relatively short (for King anyway) 260 pages. The story just screams along, and King's realization of the main character is surprisingly effective. Blaze is fantastic character, tragic and sympathetic.

this is probably the best King novel I've read since 1997's Desperation. Well worth the read. ( )
