A charming Regency romance cum mystery by Reay Tannahill writing as Annabel Laine. Miss Caroline Malcolm believes that the late Colonel Malcolm was her father, but after her mother's death she is shocked to discover that he wasn't - so who was her father? Her legacy from her unknown father is 21 flawless diamonds. She is advised to place her problem in the Earl of Moriston's hands. In the course of his investigation, it becomes apparent that Mrs Malcolm's death was not accidental as was first thought, and her younger (half-)brother is murderously attacked. Recommended; this series is something of a favourite of mine. A charming Regency romance cum mystery by Reay Tannahill writing as Annabel Laine. We have a plot which includes diamonds, 'accidents', and secrets that have been kept for years as the Earl and his family try to unravel the clues.
I enjoyed this Regency tale as it had more mystery than romance and the style of writing was easy to read. I liked the portrayal of the characters, and the mystery was sufficiently entertaining.
