There are careless errors in terminology and history, and the continuity is inconsistent even within the context of the novel. However, the idea of the Crosstime Imperium allows for a great deal of interesting events, and the protagonist / hero is one of his usual engaging rascals, who are just competent enough to keep themselves alive (precursors to Han Solo, in my view).
