Laumer books are always worth reading. Many will turn out to be average quality 1950s-1960s SF. This is one of those. Good imagination but it just didn't hook me. ( )

Brion Bayard, the hero of Worlds of the Imperium, finds himself facing an ugly possibility, that the Blight is spreading to other lines of development including our earthly one, and the Prime World line, the Imperium itself. Steps have to be taken and a short-term disaster looms. ( )

(actually read copy-1 on these dates)

I am very fond of Laumer's work, but this is not one of his best. There are careless errors in terminology and history, and the continuity is inconsistent even within the context of the novel.
However, the idea of the Crosstime Imperium allows for a great deal of interesting events, and the protagonist / hero is one of his usual engaging rascals, who are just competent enough to keep themselves alive (precursors to Han Solo, in my view). ( )
