What a lovely story of second chance romance. Ama Torres‘ mother has been married so many times that she ends up becoming a wedding planner. A celebrity ends up choosing Ama for her wedding but there is one condition, she uses Elliot Bloom as the florist. It seems his family is friends with the bride’s family. Little do they know that Ama and Elliot use to be together but now they barely speak to each other. They are basically enemies. Both Ama and Elliot know if they put aside their past and call a truce then they can do this and it will be huge for both of their busineses.

The story is wonderful and I laughed many times from all the antics and mishaps that occurred along the way.

This book is told through flashbacks and present day narrative. What I thought was unique about this is the present day is told from the female MC's perspective and the flashbacks are told from the male MC's perspective.

So, you know each character from the different points of time, then you get the other character's interpretation of what is happening in that time. For example, I caught myself thinking the female character almost seemed like a different person in the flashbacks, but I think that is a little bit intentional because you are only seeing her through his eyes in those scenes and how he is interpreting her actions and what she says. Ama Torres is finally getting the chance to plan that big wedding that she knows will grow her business, but the couple insists upon using Elliot Bloom as their florist. Ama's relationship with Elliot ended badly and she can't imagine working with him again, but she decides to bow to the wishes of her clients. Elliot is just as rude and uncompromising as she remembers, but Ama can't deny his talent or the feelings that re-emerge as they develop this one-of-a-kind wedding.

Within the pages of Forget Me Not, we meet two characters with some unlikable qualities that somehow make them even more likable. The first half of the book alternates chapters told from the pov of each character, however, the chapters from Ama's perspective are in the present, while the chapters from Elliot's perspective are from the past and detail what happened to cause the couple to separate. The suspense builds as we learn more about what went wrong in their relationship and the depth of fear and longing that still persists between the two of them. The backdrop of the wedding they are planning adds some humor as we learn more about the talents of each protagonist, but after the reason for their separation is revealed, there is bit of a disconnect to the story. Overall though, Forget Me Not is an enjoyable read that is tough to put down. ( )

If someone leaning over you and plucking your bluetooth out of your ear doesn't sound like a sexy-romantic thing to do, you probably have not read this book.

I started reading this this evening and finished. Major Nom-Nom. The hero, while being gorgeous, sensitive, rude and broody is also deeply romantic and pretty socially incompetent.

I wasn't initially convinced on him, although the "meet-cute" that wasn't really had me liking Elliot's voice. But it was his lack of smooth lines that kept him endearing and consistent through the book. I really loved Elliot by the end, and really loved the creativity and the flower talk.

Ama was a commitment-phobic list-maker and wedding planner workaholic. She was charming and a bit of a hurricane in a broken down car. I liked but found her less grounded in ways and less fresh. That said, I did enjoy seeing them being everything they needed and the way they fell in step was fun to read.

While this flashback (Elliot)-present (Ama) narrative choice is tough for me - where what happened to them is a mystery- this was executed in a manner that made it feel fair and obvious once you see how the characters are, and frankly moving enough.

I was impressed with Soto's ability to write tension of all kinds-plot,personal, relationship, sexual. It helped make this book feel engaging throughout. I am looking forward to her follow-up. Four stars because I would definitely revisit, but didn't quite reach the heights of a 5. Parts of it came close, however. (I think Elliot's relationship to his mother & father was well established, but they both needed more relationships in the book to help flesh out the characters for me; Ama was much closer.)

I also found the brief conflict in the final act frustrating and kind of silly / meaningless. I would've rather those pages be spent on the couple. Still, 4-I just really enjoyed it! ( )

One of my most anticipated books for this year. The premise sounded interesting - a pair separated and brought back together for one of the most anticipated weddings of the year. Ama has never seen herself marry, but being a wedding coordinator is much better. When a social media influencer comes for her to coordinate her wedding, Ama is not prepared for being reunited with Elliot.

Elliot has never wanted to be a florist. It was the least favorite thing he ever wanted, but when his father passes away, he reluctantly takes up the business. He is not prepared for Ama walking in the door with her two clients.

The social media and her soon-to-be wife take note of the chemistry between the two and feel the two are meant to be, but their history is complicated and Elliot is still reeling from Ama's refusal of his proposal. Mix in a meddling former boss and a romance that may claim both of their hearts.

The one glaring thing that annoyed the hell out of me is that the boss, Whitney (cannot recall her last name right now. So frustrating!), doesn't really appear much in the book. We know that Ama worked for in the past and Ama was pretty much let go because she had become a favorite among the clients - being invited to parties, bachelorettes, etc. Ama fears that she may be stepping on toes especially when it comes to booking with venues that have been working with Whitney's company for years.

What I don't understand is Ama's need to go tell Whitney what she is doing. It really is not Whitney's business and though I get she does not want to step on toes, she also should know that is how business works. You compete. You work hard. You establish relationships and there could be nothing Whitney could really do.

Oh, she might find ways to blacklist you but if you establish yourself well enough then it could be harder on her to do so. But to go to her and tell her is really the stupidest thing to do because she will see this as her opportunity to get the venues that have worked with her to lie and tell her the date her clients have set for. Even worse, she will find a way to weasel her way into becoming part of the scene.

The romance between Elliot and Ama - I just did not feel the chemistry between them. Their interactions seemed forced like the author gave the two a quick backstory of their past and believed it would be substantial enough for the reader, to not only establish a connection but believe that their past history and current relationship had all the chemistry they needed.

Sorry, but I just did not feel it. I wanted so much to feel it so much but I just could not connect nor feel anything with the plot and characters.

Final Thought:

If you like quick summer reads, then this is definitely the book for you. ( )
