This is an exhaustive encyclopedia of the life and events of J.R.R. Tolkien. It has many interesting bits in it, even for the casual reader, but I couldn't read it all. I love the writings of Tolkien, but there is not enough time left in my reading life to read this straight through. I will keep it as a reference, which is what it is meant to be.
