![]() Ingen Der er ingen diskussionstråde på Snak om denne bog. the best wishes I know that Kirk is one of the standard bearers for conservatism. I was thinking this would be a primer for his other works- something more accessible. It's certainly accessible, but not exactly what I was looking for. Someone familiar with the basics of what some call "American exceptionalism" won't find much new here. However, this would be a great book for young adults who have little knowledge about what makes our country great. Side note, he has a nice summary of natural rights and from where they are derived. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
"The American Cause explains in simple language the bedrock principles upon which America's experiment in constitutional self-government is built." "Russell Kirk, whose life and thought was featured recently in C-SPAN's acclaimed "American Writers" series, intended "this little book" to be an assertion of the moral and social principles upholding our nation. Kirk's primer is an aid to reflection on those principles - political, economic, and religious - that have united Americans when faced with challenges and threats from the enemies of ordered freedom."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc.
