Owen is a little boy who loves his fuzzy yellow blanket and carries it with him wherever he goes. Owen's neighbor Mrs. Tweezers convinces his parents that he is too old to be playing with "Fuzzy" and offers them strategies for how to get rid of it. In the end, Owen's mother repurposes Fuzzy into handkerchiefs that he can bring with him to school. This book is intended for younger children and would be perfect to read in pre-k and kindergarten. It's a story about easing the transition between home and school. I think that many children would find the story relatable and comforting. The book is illustrated in Henkes's signature style -- colorful images of little mice and their families. I would highly recommend this book. ( )

Owen is a little mouse attached to his Fuzzy, a worn yellow blanket. Owen's parents struggle to figure out how to break his attachment, until one day, his mother realizes they don't have to. Instead of taking it away, Owen's mother sews Fuzzy into small handkerchiefs Owen can take with him wherever he goes. I thought this book was sweet and dealt with the attachment issues children can have in a positive way. I liked this book and think it could be helpful for parents. The illustrations also enhanced the story. ( )

This book follows a male main character who takes comfort with his favorite blanket. The plot line allows male students to see elements of themselves in a book while also teaching them how it's okay to have a favorite toy or blanket. Additionally, the story pulls in multiple levels of readers to practice developing their literacy skills. Such support includes textual clues and picture connection to the text. ( )
