The word thespians apears on the first page, amongst the first twenty words or so. We get it from the begining, we are prepared for it. Also, I knew before I read it that thespian was a euphamism for Gay.
Fine.
Fine.
But it still does not work.
Yes, it constantly mirrors a play. The dialouge, charecter interactions, LACK of setting, lack of charecter interaction with setting. I think that is what Purdy was trying to do. So we can't accuse him of being a hack.
But to what end? What was gained from it?
That I can see, nothing.
I like it when people get experimental. I adore it. But this kinda failed, and I can see a number of ways around it. ( )
