This is a reminder that if you haven’t read SWEET TOOTH by @jefflemire …well, you need to! This book was a great continuation of the story. We are introduced to new characters as Gus travels across the lands, and tries to stay away from the humans. Too bad he is captured and has to escape. That is where most of this book is spent, escape. This volume will keep the reader turning pages and needing book 3 immediately after. If I had to describe this in a nutshell, it'd be something like Bambi meets The Road. I still detest the art - the character designs, to a one, are ugly. That being said, it certainly is an effective combination of simple and gritty that marries fairy tale and survivalist horror. Its emotionally evocative and capitalizes on the fact that the emotions are disgust. Jeppard's arc is really predictable. Gus shows slow but steady development, and I've enjoyed his arc thus far. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

Jeff Lemire (DESCENDER, GREEN ARROW) continues his vivid exploration of kindness and cruelty in a post-apocalyptic world. The human race has reached its darkest hour. In the seven years since the Affliction first appeared, billions have died. All the children born since the plague are a strange new race of animal-human hybrids. One of the few remaining humans, a drifter named Jepperd, has formed a bond with one such child, a sweet deer-like boy called Gus. But even among the hybrid children, Gus is an anomaly, seemingly born before the sickness began. Believing that Gus's history might be the key to the plague's origins, Jepperd and the boy will journey north together to Alaska in the hope that if they can uncover the story of his birth, it will lead them to a cure for the sickness. But the troubling question remains: If Gus isn't a product of the Affliction, was he its cause? Also collects a pinup gallery from some of the comics industry's top talents, and an introduction by colorist José Villarrubia.
