"All My Mothers" is a touching read and follows the story of Eva Martinez-Green from the day she starts school then for the next thirty years of her life. At school, she becomes lifelong friends with Bridget, who I adored, and the last couple of chapters had me in tears.

Eva's journey is challenging and complicated. At times she is not very likeable but I was drawn to her story as she seeks the truth about the first three and a half years of her life. At school, Eva is introduced to a book that sorts mothers into colour schemes, each with a distinct colour and personality traits. This story enormously impacts her as she searches to find what it means to be a mother. Throughout her life, Eva encounters various types of mothers, some good some bad, but each plays a significant role in her development as a woman.

"All My Mothers" is real and honest. There are joyful moments and heartbreaking ones, too, as it explores mothers, families, longing and love in all its forms. A delightful read. ( )
