I am distraught. I just wanted my ladies to find peace. Now I'm stck with Jod and Paul and what happened to Noodle? I probably need another read through. I definitely need more time to stew.

Quirky Nona is simply a delight.

The shift in style between each book is jarring and tough to understand.

Can't wait for the next book.

Loved as much as the previous volumes though this has a bit of an interlude quality, which might be off-putting for some. I'm looking forward to Alecto next year and an excuse to reread the first three :D.

I completely bounced off the previous two books in this series, both of which were Hugo finalists. But to my surprise, I started off really enjoying this one, as the title character tries to put together her lost memories in a dangerous and violent society not too far from our own. But it lost me again at the end; once she returns to the world of Gideon the Ninth and Harrow the Ninth, it became boring and confusing, and also there’s a parallel narrative thread which wasn’t integrated into the plot at all, as far as I could see. Story is interesting but each progressive book moves further and further from the initial charm of Gideon the Ninth. The plot broadens considerably and scales up in intensity as is typical for a lot of fantasy series, but it feels so far removed from why I got invested in and attached to the Canaan house characters that it's gotten harder to read. Great story and a good book, just not something I'm personally a huge fan of (
