Stone and Dusty were best friends as children. They have not been a part of each other's lives for a long time and conflicts between their parents have made it even more complicated. Now Dusty is going to college in the same city where Stone plays professional football. This book started out pretty good. We see Dusty starting at a new school and trying to learn the ropes. She is living in a house with some mean girls and is just kind of angry and sad about a lot of things. Stone is only a year older than Dusty. He has been focusing on football and has made a name for himself. When the two of them are brought together by circumstances not under their control things just get kind of crazy. Stone learns some things he didn't know about and Dusty is resistant to him helping her. He seems to be doing things right, and then he gets mad at her and does somethings when she is not well that totally made me cringe. She tries to block out what is happening in her life in what I consider unhealthy ways. Instead of seeing them grow together and work on the problems from their past and get to know each other again, we see them use sex as an escape mechanism. Don't get me wrong, there are some sweet moments, but the story was missing depth for me. I read this book because I had heard good things about the author. It is my first book by her, so even though this book was just ok for me I will probably try another one and see how I like a different book. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
Stone Reeves was my neighbor, and I've hated him since sixth grade.Gorgeous and charismatic, he became the town's football god, while I became the town's invisible girl.He went to a Division 1 school for football, while my father was fired by his father. His team won the National Championship, while my mother died the same day.He was a first round pick for the NFL ...... while I made the worst decision of my life. Now I'm in Texas trying to pick up the pieces of my life. But, Stone is here.Stone is everywhere. It doesn't matter that disaster has struck my life again. It doesn't matter that he's the one trying to console me.It doesn't matter that he's the nation's newest football obsession.Because for me, he always has been and always will be my enemy. Enemies was a truly fantastic read! I had so much fun reading this one. And reading it made me realize how much I have truly missed reading this author and I definitely need to read her more often. She especially writes such solid angst and it delivered so well on the page. And a FAMILY FEUD....YES sign me up. I actually had no clue going into this book that it had those aspects. The blurb was a bit different than what the story actually was. But despite that I really had a time of my life with this book. They both had such great personalities and seeing them find common ground and get to the truth behind the conflict between them was just right. The only issue that I had with this book was the third act conflict. It was just a bit weird, and the heroine should have done a grovel too in this one. She did some wrong too so it would have been nice if she had done some redemption as well. Overall, I had a blast with this book and was beyond entertaining and if you love contemporary enemies to lovers====READ THIS ONE!! I promise you won't have regrets! ( )
