This picture book tells about Mrs. Shepherd's class is going to the book fair! The most excited person is Dewey Booker. He is the ultimate book lover. The story tells of how Dewey can't wait to visit the book fair. The only problem is that the time for the class visit is the end of the day. Story shows all of Dewey's attempts to sneak in to the book fair throughout the day. Finally it's time to go and Dewey so busy making recommendations to his classmates he doesn't have chance to get books for himself.

Dewey is a young reader who loves book fair day at his school library. Unfortunately this is the year that his class visits the fair last. Will there be any books left for this young book lover? This book is not as well-illustrated as other books with similar themes. The story is less engaging than others as well. ( )

This book is a good example of realistic fiction because people can imagine themselves or people encountering the same situation and it gives insight into human nature and interactions that can be applied to real life. The main character, Dewey, is a round character because we get to know him. As he is anxiously awaiting the book fair, we get to know him through his actions, the dialogue between the characters and also through the illustrations. He is also a static character because he does not change from the beginning to the end of the book.

I liked this book because throughout the course of the story a young boy wanted to go to the book fair all day and when he finally got there his classmates kept asking him questions about differnet books since he was the "book monster" and loved reading books. By the time they had to leave he was not able to get any books but the libarean had been watching out for him and kept a whole box full of them for him to buy. This book had very cute wording and illustrations. ( )
