Downright adorable, highly entertaining, and has some wonderful Where's Waldo-style spreads chock full of chickens doing all kinds of wacky things! I can't wait to read this one to my nephews. :) ( )

Wonderful! Terrific! Great detailed illustrations!

A fanciful tale of chickens with musical inclinations. The two husbands are delightfully portrayed.

I like the gay leading couple but hate all the chickens.

Latching onto the urban chicken farming fad, this story exaggerates what happens when backyard breeders get out of control with their livestock in a humorous manner, but I have some serious reservations about that particular topic, so I wasn't able to let loose and enjoy all the antics.

(Another project! I'm reading all the picture books and graphic novels from NPR's Books We Love 2021: Kids’ Books list.) ( )

A charming and amusing tale of chickens overrunning the household and ultimately finding their destiny (does not involve a pot or oven). Mr. Watson and Mr. Nelson are a couple and although that is not the focus of the story, there is a sweet depiction of their relationship. Mr. Nelson is very patient with all the chickens until he is not, and Mr. Watson knows he has to do something because "he loves Mr. Nelson more than he loves the chickens." They even call each other Mr. Watson and Mr. Nelson. Kids will pore over the Where's Waldo-style spreads of chickens, chickens, chickens. I know I was looking for the two dogs and three cats in those spreads! ( )
