A fun end to the series 4 stars This is the last book in Hart’s White Peak series which encompasses the Bookworm’s Guide series and then the Introvert’s Guide series. While this book does stand alone, and features the story and HEA of a completely separate couple, there are loads of cameos from couples past who are all linked in some way. I still think it would make sense for someone jumping into the series here, though. Piper is the last single one in her friend group and she’s fine with that. Her friends, however, are less than fine with her lone status and keep setting her up on blind dates. She agrees to one more blind date - only to come face to face with the guy she had a smoking hot one night stand with a while back. I loved the premise that your “blind” date could actually be someone you’d already seen naked! Piper was a likeable girl and I really believed that she liked who she was and wasn’t all that interested in coupling up with someone. And it’s always enjoyable to watch someone eat their words as they fall hook, line and sinker for that special person. Piper had some snark but she was much more level headed than many of Hart’s heroines, and not so abrasive. Maverick was a good guy and took the role of the one who was much more smitten and all-in than the other in the pair. I feel I didn’t really get to know him all that well but he was a hot sweetheart who wrote romance novels - what’s not to love? The pair were sweet together but I would have liked a bit more sizzle - especially since our pair were already, well, acquainted. I just wanted some oomph in that department and as such, I felt Mav and Piper’s connection was definitely missing something. There’s not much drama going on in this story - it’s more of a meander through the early days of the relationship between Mav and Piper. There is some side issues with Piper’s brother, and also with the inmates at the old folks’ home - unnecessary to the love story but it kept the pages turning. Emma Hart is on point, as always, with her smarts and snarks. Her writing is sharp and she always makes me laugh with both the wit and sheer silliness. It’s never a chore to pick up and get stuck into an Emma Hart story. There’s also always a lot of friendship goals which makes me happy. This story didn’t rock my world but it was an enjoyable, uplifting story and a great way to sign-off on the series and the residents of White Peak as a whole. 4 stars from me and recommended to fans of Emma Hart or those reading through the series’. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

Piper is not looking to date since she is focusing all of her energy on her business. Her friends didn’t get the message through and the next thing she knows they have talked her into going on a blind date. When she shows up for her date, she realizes it isn’t quite so blind since she has already been out with Maverick, and their previous date got very friendly so she already knows what he has to offer. Maverick is a romance author writing a book that has a main character that is a baker. He needs to learn more about what goes into running a bakery plus a few recipes so Piper may be just the help he needs. As they spend more time together, sparks begin to fly and they realize that there might be something there.
I liked Piper and Maverick a lot and thought that they made a fantastic couple. They had a lot of chemistry together and seemed incredibly comfortable together from the start. It was fun to watch Maverick try to fit in with Piper’s group of friends. I loved the way that Maverick seemed to be willing to take things at whatever speed Piper needed. I found their relationship to be very believable.
Savannah Peachwood and Tim Paige did a fantastic job with the narration. It seemed like we heard more from the female narrator than the male but that is due to how the book was written. I felt like both of the narrators did a great job bringing the characters to life and I like all of the different voices that they used. I do think that their narration added to my overall enjoyment of this story.
I received a review copy of this audiobook from Dreamscape Media via NetGalley. ( )
