This riveting suspense thriller is about the filming of Nosferatu and the difficult relationship between F.W. Murnau and Max Schreck. As cast and crew begin to disappear, it seems that Murnau has made a devil's bargain with Schreck, whose performance is too authentic.
guyalice: Shadow of the Vampire is a fictitious (very fictitious) portrayal of the making of Nosferatu, based on the behind-the-scenes myth that Max Schreck was an actual vampire. Definitely see Nosferatu before Shadow to fully enjoy it.

A thoroughly half-assed film. The idea is cute, but that's all there is. It's bad at being creepy. It's bad at being dramatic. It's really bad at silly accents. And when you're making an homage to Nosferatu, you'd damn well better have some great cinematography...

Excellent movie. About the making of the silnet movie Nosferatu- but the actor playing the vampire is really a vampire. So far the best vampire movie of the 21th centuries first decade. ( )
