The clever creativity and imagination that the author gives the main character really makes the story interesting. I also think this is a really good book to read when teaching students about storytelling. ( ) A delightful story of a precocious second grade girl who takes her class by storm. The students are enthralled with her clothing styles, her unusual lunches, and her fantastic, absolutely true stories. As her classmates and teacher are captivated by Gooney's stories, they also learn a few things about what makes a good story and how everyone has their own special stories to tell. A young girl who goes by Gooney Bird Greene is a new student going into a new class from China. She wears different clothes then other students and wanted to sit in the middle so she could be in the middle of everything. When one student needs to go to the nurses office the class decided they wanted to learn a story about the new girl. Gooney Bird liked this because she wanted to be the center of attention and so she went up and decided to tell a story about how she got her name. She goes on to tell that story and many others about her life. The stories seem crazy at first, like she talked about how she was in jail, but she was talking about playing monopoly. Throughout the book she uses her imagination to cleverly tell true stories about her life. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse
