"The coming of Spring usually means renewal, but for Linnea Rutledge, Spring 2020 threatens stagnation. Linnea faces another layoff, this time from the aquarium she adores. For her-and her family-finances, emotions, and health teeter at the brink. To complicate matters, her new love interest, Gordon, struggles to return to the Isle of Palms from England. Meanwhile, her old flame, John, turns up from California and is quarantining next door. She tries to ignore him, but when he sends her plaintive notes in the form of paper airplanes, old sparks ignite. When Gordon at last reaches the island, Linnea wonders-is it possible to love two men at the same time? Love in the time of the coronavirus proves challenging, at times humorous, and ever changing. Relationships are redefined, friendships made and broken, and marriages tested. As the weeks turn to months, and another sea turtle season comes to a close, Linnea learns there are more meaningful lessons learned during this summer than opportunities lost, that summer is a time of wonder, and that the exotic lives in our own back yards. In The Summer of Lost and Found, Linnea and the Rutledge family continue to face their challenges with the strength, faith, and commitment that has inspired fans for decades. Mary Alice Monroe once again delves into the complexities of family relationships and brings her signature "sensitive and true" (Dorothea Benton Frank, New York Times bestselling author) storytelling to this poignant and timely novel of love, courage, and resilience"--… (mere)

Hope this will be the last for this series. The series started out so great and declined over the series. ( )

3.5 stars, just wasn't up to par with the others in the series. ( )

Finally, the CDC says we no longer need to wear masks if we have been vaccinated. It's a big relief to go back into society and feel closer to normal.

This book, however, takes you back to the days of the coronavirus was at its peak in 2020. It reminded me of what we just want to forget - libraries closed, grocery store lines, masks, social distancing, a lot of businesses shut down, airline restrictions and let's not forget: Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island restricted the beach area to residents only for awhile which was upsetting to locals on the other side of the bridge.

This is a love story about two girls who worked together and lost their jobs at the aquarium in Charleston and then came together as roommates. Linnea's Aunt Cara generously offered her a family beach cottage free of rent at Isle of Palms to help out. Linnea also offered it to her friend, Anna, to stay with her through the hard times in small house "paying it forward." And then there's the boyfriends who needed a place to stay which made it more interesting.

This is the first book I've read by Mary Alice Monroe. She has a huge following and this book was fine as a stand-alone. I loved the cover, maps of the islands and family trees. However, I believe this book would be more interesting to those that don't live in the area. In the future, it will be a good account of what happened during the days of Covid. For now, it's too much of a reminder - for me. ( )

Latest installment of the Beach House series and very well done. I only rated it a four star because I didn't really want to read about COVID for any reason but MAM approached it well and still wrote a good story and included our favorite Turtle Team. ( )

When I read that this book was set during the Covid-19 pandemic, I was a little hesitant to read it. Did I really want to read about the pandemic after living through it? But I am so glad I changed my mind. Rather than focusing on the angst of those early, perplexing days, Mary Alice Monroe celebrates the ways we grew and supported one another. Mary Alice Monroe perfectly describes the various feelings and emotions we have all experienced during this time without weighing down the characters or the storyline. The Rutledge women, family, and friends, we have grown to love through The Beach House series, experience the same challenges and triumph and support each other in the good and bad times. ( )
