Many of you may recognize his name as he is an expert computer consultant and award-winning author. Many of us have used his knowledge to help us learn how to assemble, configure, customize, and update our PCs. Well, Hudspeth surprised me, somewhat, when he informed me he'd released a book of poetry. Not that I didn't think he had it in him. I just didn't think he had the time. I started his book Incandescent Visions and found I couldn't put it down. It is a truly creative exploration! The book is divided into chapters by themes: 1. Dear Reader, Hello, 2. Reflections, 3. It's Getting Dark In Here, 4. Motion, 5. A Celebration Of All Things. I've read the book more than once and the Preface says it all when it mentions the arc of our lives. I have selected three of my favorite poems and provide a snippet about each of them. In Framework, the words Peter Pan stuck out. The poem begins as meditation and throughout you witness the authors' love of cosmology. It speaks to our framework in general with 'People, dreams, and possibilities'. I was tickled to learn this was one of the two poems Hudspeth chose to break down. He explains his process in detail in the back of this book. The poem Stronger is inspiring! We are reminded, 'Strength floods in long after it’s over'. I think that is true for many of us. When we are caught up in difficult things, we wonder if we are ever going to get through them, and then when we do, we recognize it - for what it was. Reading memorials are difficult as they are commemorating the life of a loved one and included things that made that person special. I wept when reading, Mom, written in memory of his mother. His line 'Recall the exquisite simplicity of her encouragement and love' gives you a hint of her essence. You will find recollections of the past and personal associations. He writes of doubt, fear, and transitions in life and nature. The collection is brilliantly and beautifully written. Lyrical and poignant - this collection of poetry from Lee Hudspeth is thought provoking and moving. The poems explore creativity - its birth, its expressions, its manifestations - and in the process readers find themselves going on a unique journey. Broken into five chapters - each one varies in themes of creativity but all are wondrous to the ear and to the mind. Poems vary in length - but chapter five is dedicated to haiku's - my personal favorite expressions of poetry and a nice treat that I was not anticipating. The poem that resonated most deeply to me in this collection was aptly titled, "Cornerstones" which I took delight in re-reading several times. I also enjoyed that the author included an afterword and explained the origins and background to some of the poems. It really helped flesh them out and allows readers to appreciate them even more. A fantastic collection that poetry fans will devour with gusto. I look forward to reading more by this inspired poet!! ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

Having written numerous works of nonfiction, this is Lee Hudspeth's debut book of poetry. Incandescent Visions explores the meaning of the human experience, as the author encourages his readers to ponder the universe and their place within it, and to catalyze their own creative potential. From the sublime shores of the Mediterranean to the majestic expansiveness of deep space, this book contemplates nostalgia, perspective and the gift of love.Through five short yet powerful, thought-provoking chapters of contemporary poems-and a dash of elegant, evocative haiku-Hudspeth takes his readers on a journey across the inner landscape of struggle, triumph, self-realization and imagination. I like that the chapters are divided by themes, which really helps you get into a certain vibe before you read the actual poetry as the author gives background into the origins of the poetry. This really helped me connect more with the author as I was able to tap into her though process as well as her views and emotions, which is poetic in itself.
I don’t get the opportunity to read poetry as much as I used to, so when I am able to read it I savor it as I would a rare treat. This is exactly what I did with Incandescent Visions, and I enjoyed every morsel.
