I liked the light hearted take on a backwards dungeon crawl. It was fun to have the Goblin Jig tell the story and the humans being the flawed bad guys. The humor is aimed at turning the D & D world upside down. ( )

Fun read from beginning to end. I really can't say much about it without giving away the end, or the middle, or the twists throughout it... I'll say this about Jim C. Hines, the man brings the funny. ( )

This book is clean, amusing, adventurous fun! There is nothing earth-shatteringly original about this novel (it's something of a typical post-Tolkien-90's adventure that has some resemblance to a fantasy RPG), but the writing is enjoyable, the antics of the characters amusing, the main character shows growth and, while the plot is predictable (probably) with the usual old-fashioned fantasy creatures (elf, dwarf, human, wizard) there are still novel elements like the fire-spider (who is soooo darned cute!). This story makes for an enjoyable, cheerful and satisfying afternoon read.

NOTE: This is Book 1 of the Jig the Goblin trilogy. There is no cliff hanger at the end. This book makes a complete story on its own. ( )

I *think* this is supposed to be a YA book? It's fairly gruesome at some parts, but I guess kids these days are "advanced." Anyhoo, this is a cute, witty little book about a Goblin named Jig. I have a slight obsession with goblins, so I was very pleased to run across this series. I listed to the audiobook produced by Graphic Audio, and it was AMAZING. "A movie in your mind" is their tag line. HOLY COW. Different voices for all the characters, and each was amazing. Neat sound effects, like the sound of them walking, the shhhhink! of a sword being drawn, the little peepings of Jig's fire spider (super cute!!)... If you can get your hands on it, I HIGHLY recommend listening to the Graphic Audio production of Goblin Quest. It would still make a great, funny read in proper book form as well. :D ( )

What a blast! Jig, the goblin, Jig the runt on a great adventure.

It is so much fun to follow Jig around, I can't give it less than 5 stars. ( )
