Now she's finally been reunited with her presumed-dead fifteen-year-old son, Will, and his father, documentarian Reid Dixon.

When a murder aboard the Gulf Coast oil platform Zeus exposes an environmental terrorist's plot to flood Mobile Bay with crude oil, Jane and Reid must put their feelings for each other aside and work together to prevent the looming sabotage.

I wasn't sure what to expect in this novel.

I enjoyed it and seeing the healing relationships throughout the story, I really loved seeing Jane, Reid, and Will become a family, I was lost at some points and I realized after reading it that it was the second book in the Pelican Harbor series, oops! And that was slightly saddening, however, I still enjoyed the book though I was lost at some spots.

As far as suspense goes I liked that there was more than the main suspense plot. As our main characters search for answers in regards to what had happened in the past it was intriguing for them to have pasts that aren't that normal but are sadly so very possible.

I don't recommend this book to younger readers since it deals with cults, death, murder, stalker, and other things. 17 up unless the reader is sensitive.

I voluntarily received and reviewed a complimentary e/copy of this book which I received from the author/publisher. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. ( )

This was just as great as the first book. The end may have wrapped up too quickly but it was a very enjoyable read that I'd definitely recommend. Provided that you have read the first book, that is.
I was a bit lost at the beginning since I read the first book in April. *thanks Goodreads* Once I read a bit, I remembered what had happened but you will be very lost without knowing the backgrounds of the characters, which was really only explained in One Little Lie.
The writing style was easy to read and natural. That combined with the characters was what really pulled me into the story, as opposed to the suspense aspect.
This review is all over the place but I'm going to end by saying that Two Reasons to Run is worth the read. I'll be on the lookout for the third and final book sometime next spring.

    Rating: 5/5
    Language: n/a
Romance: 2 kisses, mentions how Will was born to 14 and 18-year-old parents
Spiritual: a little but not prevalent
Violence: death, getting shot, murder, stalker

*I received a copy of this novel from the publisher. All thoughts are my own and a positive review was not required. ( )

I received a complimentary audiobook from NetGalley and Harper Collins Christian Audio in exchange for an unbiased review.

In this second novel of the Pelican Harbor series the background story of Chief of Police Jane Hardy is further revealed. Since the story itself mostly focuses on a mystery it would be possible to read without having read book one but I wouldn’t recommend it. The background history of the characters gives credibility to their decisions.

Jane Hardy is the daughter of retired Police Chief Charles Hardy who settled in Pelican Harbor years ago after leaving a powerful religious cult when their compound was burned down. Jane stills harbors resentment towards her mother who took her baby from her during the fire and was never seen again. Her father claims she died and mostly likely her baby Moses.

Soon Jane meets Reid Dixon who is an investigative reporter who eventually decides to settle in Pelican Harbor after he finishes his story about the serial murders that occurred when he arrived. His decision is also influenced by his past history with Jane and his 16 year old son Will. They have a history together which is not apparent when he first comes to town. Reid had a lot to explain to Jane including his presumed ex-wife who adopted Will but never showed any maternal feelings for him.

This murder mystery revolves around an oil spill and rumors of an environmental terrorist plot to flood Mobile Bay with crude oil. Again ghosts from the past come back to haunt the residents of Pelican Harbor. The high school principal received an ominous warning from her son Keith McDonald before his body is found dead in the water. It seems that Will is the unlikely target in this drama which has Jane working overtime to protect him.

This second book was not nearly as captivating as the first. Jane’s character is annoying as she is reluctant to forgive and let go of past grudges. There are signs that she is “warming” up to those who tried to protect her with their deception.

This is book 2 in a series.
I was a little disappointed with this one as I felt the mystery/suspense part of it was not too good.
There was too much of focus on the personal theme and also it was too closely linked with book 1.
I read book 1 and book 2 back to back but if you read them in another order or read them with a big gap, it felt the links are too many.
Would definitely give myself a break on this series and if at all I read Book 3, it would definitely be after a while. ( )
