I really enjoyed reading this book to my younger cousin. She loves soccer and hopes to play someday. The big idea of this story is, it doesn't matter who wins, as long as you have fun! This really makes sense. If you are focused on winning all the time, then you won't have fun. You'll be too focused on winning and then when you don't win, it definitely won't be fun. The whole point is to have a good time playing a sport you like. One of the reasons why I liked reading this book was because of the characters, they were all so supportive. For example, Maisy says to her friend Eddie who is playing goalie and missed the ball "Don't worry, Eddie. You'll save it next time." It was really nice to read something to my younger cousin where the characters were supportive and caring friends. Even when you don't win it's good to show good sportsmanship. Another reason why I liked reading this book was because of the illustrations. There wasn't much on a page, but it was enough to get the point a crossed to the readers. The colors were nice too because they were dark and grabbed your eye. For example, it was halftime and they were eating oranges and drinking water. On the page has the blue sky, green grass, a sun, and then some of the characters sitting down eating oranges. The illustrations were showing exactly what the words said. I thought this book was a great book to read to my younger cousin. I also used this book for my English Language Learner who is in kindergarten, because it didn't have many words and the illustrations were showing exactly what the words said. ( )

A cute book about Maisy the Mouse and her friends as they play soccer. Bright, colorful art, and large enough print to catch a toddlers attention. Didn't like that soccer is not explained very well, or explained that it is called by other names in other places. Or that both teams 'won'. But cute, nonetheless. ( )
