![]() Ingen Der er ingen diskussionstråde på Snak om denne bog. I could bet on a couple of things when reading this book 1.) The girl would become a damsel in distress 2.) The law enforcement guy assigned to the case would be single and they would be attracted to each other "against their will." 3.) The guy would end up saving the girl 4.) The ending would involve a kiss and either a proposal or marriage. Let's just say I batted a perfect 1000 when it came to this book. Eva and Brent's story was not surprising at all. However, Eva was more of a "stronger" female protagonist than other Irene Hannon books. I really liked Eva's tenacity and how she pursued Brent when he was unsure of a relationship. It showed guts. Additionally, I didn't fully see the villain (although I did feel the end was wrapped up with the individual too quickly and their demise was given a sentence. I wanted more.) And of course Eva's sisters will feature in the other books in the series. But with them being strong willed like their sister, I am excited. So while yes this book was formulaic (much as I am feeling Kingsbury's books are becoming), I don't mind it as much. I like my suspenseful books to be more "light" in flare so they won't keep me up at night. ;) ![]() Brent Lange is a beat cop of ten years who is in his first year as a detective. He lands his biggest case yet with the Eve Reilly harassment case. He finds her attractive but will maintain a distance from her until the case is over, so he tells himself. That doesn’t last too long as the danger to Eve escalates and he wants to keep her safe. He traces down even the remotest of leads in an effort to solve the case, but the danger to Eve keeps growing. Can he find the culprit before serious harm confronts Eve? I liked Eve’s spunkiness and passion for her beliefs. She unashamedly stands up for what she holds dear. She and Brent share a faith in God that they incorporate in their everyday lives. It isn’t evident only on Sunday. They also serve their community by giving of their time to help others. I admired Eve’s dedicated to keeping up with the political landscape, constitution rights and other government issues (a full-time job in itself). I look forward to reading about Eve’s sister Cate in the next book in the series, Labyrinth of Lies. ingen anmeldelser | tilføj en anmeldelse

Hate mail was one thing. This was quite another. Radio talk show host Eve Reilly is used to backlash from her pot-stirring on-air commentary and interviews. But now it seems a disgruntled listener is resorting to more than angry words to express their displeasure. When a suspicious package arrives on her doorstep, Eve turns to law enforcement for help. Police detective Brent Lange can't find any evidence to link the string of unsettling incidents that follows, but he's convinced they're connected. As the harassment grows more menacing, it becomes clear someone wants Eve's voice silenced—permanently. But unless he can track down her elusive foe, the gutsy woman who is willing to take risks for what she believes— and who is swiftly winning his heart—may not survive. I was quite fond of Eve's personality. She was not at all shy and very blunt. She definitely had me laughing at points because of the way she point-blank addressed everything.
Now, this story got very political at times. As you may know, I do not like politics discussed much in books (either side of the aisle) and this felt over the top at times.
Overall, this was a decent story but not one that I will be rereading.
Rating: 3/5
Language: n/a
Romance: kissing
Spiritual: characters are Christians
Violence: a lot of violence of various sorts due to the nature of the story, Antifa, bullet wounds
