Why live in the boring present when you have a century's worth of vintage couture to live up to? Why be ordinary with centuries of Vandermeir scandals to shape your destiny? Paisley Vandermeir was born on a hippie commune, transplanted to high society Manhattan at the vulnerable age of seven, and finally rescued and nurtured by her wild Aunt Izzy, whose Roaring 20s exploits still tarnish the family name. Paisley is the very definition of a "Vandermeir scandal" waiting to happen. It's simply a matter of what and when. Now, it's Christmas in Manhattan and Paisley Vandermeir has a scandalous scheme to set herself free from society's expectations once and for all. Enter Christopher Quincy Maitland, the blond and gorgeous Rock of Gibraltar who carries the weight of his family's fortune on his shoulders - safe, dependable, scandal proof. Or is he? When irresistible force meets immovable object, what happens next is Scandalous … (mere)

I really enjoyed the story. Nice light breading. Brought with me to the beach and was very entertained. ( )

Paisley Vandermeir thinks she must make up a society scandal - like all the Vandermeir women before her. She finds her target. And of course then there comes love. Instead of fear.
I'm really not the guy for reading love stories, but: I enjoyed every single page of this one. Patricia Burroughs is doing a great writer job. ( )

I received an ecopy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a short, cute story about Paisley. Paisley shows up in New York with her hippy commune parents- and life changes forever. Paisely relates well to her aunt who also doesn't live by others' rules and does her own thing. After Paisley's aunt passes Paisley has the job of distributing her aunts belongings in accordance wit her wishes. Paisely seems to be doing these things all on her own and it does wear on her. While she is working on this she runs into Christopher who is one of the 'untouchable by scandal" sphere. Well of course once he gets tied up with Paisley there will be a scandal. Paisley almost forfeits all happiness by trying so hard to NOT be what people want/expect of her.

It was a cute quick read and is great for that guilty pleasure of reading purely for enjoyment. ( )

I found this to be an entertaining book, although from the first chapter, I thought they were talking about a dog instead of a little girl. LOL. The story line was quite good, good sex scenes, and interesting background. I didn't find that I couldn't put it down so had to make myself continue reading it. I did enjoy it though. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to read and review it. ( )
